what happens if you forget to take levothyroxine?
Tin can missing a few days of Levothyroxine tablets bring on severe headaches/migraine?
I take fibromyalgia and hypothyroidism. And been having a flare upwards for over a calendar week at present. Now I have astringent headaches/migraine and it is worse when I put my glasses on.
While I have been sick, I have probably missed about five days of Levothyroxine and wondered if that could be cause of headache?

Missing even 2 days of levo can bring on many symptoms and 1 of them could be headaches. I was recently left undermedicated for over a week and my migrains were back with a vengence.
I know yous said you accept been ill recently but why would that contribute to yous missing almost a calendar week of thyroid medication? You could exist causing yourself all sorts of problems by missing so much medication.

mainly because i have had really bad fatigue and no energy and been sleeping all the fourth dimension and forgetting to have. didnt think information technology was such a major trouble to be honest
A simple solution would be to gear up an alarm clock specifically to have your thyroid meds, take them ready and waiting by your bed and and then you only have to swallow then with a little water and go straight back to slumber - missing then much medication could likewise be why you are so tired and are lacking energy.

it isnt that unproblematic because i have a problem with tablets and so i accept to take them with cheese spread so i tin eat them. would i be ok to take them in the evening?
Y'all should not be taking your thyroid medication with ANY food or potable except h2o as this will stop it working to its total potential and this could well be why you are still feeling and so ill with tiredness and lack of energy.
You lot really do need to notice a way to take your thyroid meds on their ain and definately not with food of any sort.

Try taking yours with Five 8 juice . That's what I do with my medication because I can't accept pills normally . A drink of Five 8 , then at least 6 ounces of water to dilute the juice . Should be fine like that .
my gp suggested I take it this way as it is the merely fashion I can take information technology and he stopped prescribing the liquid considering it is as well expensive evidently
To put it frankly - your GP is not acting in your best interest (and that'south putting it mildly). Anyone who knows annihilation near thyroid illness and levothyroxine would never suggest taking information technology with food, especially cheese spread every bit it contains calcium, another big no, no to take anywhere near your thyroid medication, and all this because he/she wants to save money. No wonder you are still feeling then ill. Levothyroxine must be kept, at to the lowest degree, two hours away from all food and beverage, except h2o to alow the body to blot it into its arrangement. Taking it with food or drink can and will stop this from happening.
Could you please explain why you cannot accept tablets on their own without the aid of cheese spread.

Moggie,
Your linguistic communication about the GP is amazingly moderate.
The Patient Information Leaflets for two of the levothyroxine products licensed in the UK say equally follows:
Eltroxin
Acquired hypothyroidism in children:
Initially 12.5 to fifty micrograms a day. The dose should be increased gradually every 2 to four weeks depending on response to treatment. If required the tablets can be dissolved in 10 to 15ml of potable water and given freshly prepared with some more than liquid (5 to 10ml).
Actavis
If required the tablets can be dissolved in 10 to 15ml of beverage water and given freshly prepared with some more liquid (v to 10ml).
Patient Data Leaflets (PIL) and Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC) documents for many, many medicines available here:
medicines.org.u.k./emc/defaul...
If someone cannot swallow whole tablets then either crunch them between your teeth and swallow (best with some h2o) or deliquesce every bit described above.
A typical cheese spread similar Laughing Moo-cow contains:
Skimmed milk, cheeses, butter, milk proteins, emulsifying salts: sodium polyphosphates, citrates, diphosphates and phosphates, salt.
I would non wish to comment on any possible interaction betwixt any of those ingredients and levothyroxine across what Moggie has already posted. Far, far besides many surprising substances do bear on assimilation.
The in a higher place represents one possible alternative artery to exist explored if a) proper liquid levothyroxine has been refused; b) there is an issue with swallowing tablets.

If I had said what I actually idea of fibrosandie's GP I think some other admin might have jumped in and done some heavy editing.lol.

Replying as 1 who has been 100% dependent on thyroid meds for xv years (no thyroid), If you take your pill every single day with the aforementioned pocket-sized amount of food you will exist okay. Eventually your body will adapt to it and her dosage will be based on that exercise. But be sure if you alter how you accept information technology, you should talk to your physician near getting retested.
If y'all're taking just a minor corporeality of spread with your pill I really doubtfulness there's enough calcium in it to actually matter. Just recollect, same time/same way/everyday.
I recall it depends, besides, on the dosage fibrosandie's on. I am on a 75 MCGs dose for my Hashimoto's and I take my tiny pill in the morning only 30 minutes before I eat, per the directions on the canteen and my doc. It also says non to accept calcium or iron within 4 hours. I don't pay much attention to that and have had normal/healthy claret panels since I've been taking this dose over the last yr. I don't doubt that headaches could be related to the missed Levothyroxine though, every bit I've missed a few days in a row earlier, waiting for a refill to procedure, and felt groggy and had headaches, even with my low dose. Hydrating well seems to help in those instances. Skillful luck.
I cannot swallow tablets due to something that happened when I was a child.
I used to take information technology wiyh chocolate mousse.
It has go exist with food. Even if a very small amount.
Howdy fibrosandy, sounds like you must encounter gp and insist,in a nice way,at least at offset, that he gets back to prescribing the liquid form PDQ! Seems staggering that he would suggest taking it with any kind of food specially calcium packed nutrient. As he is aware y'all take problems with swelling meds what on earth is he thinking!
Oops- I meant. Problems with swallowing!
Nosotros know what you lot meant.lol.

If your GP wont allow yous to become dorsum to the liquid thyroxin and then I would think nigh crushing them up and taking it like that, anything is ameliorate than taking it with food.
You might want to ask for a referral to an endocrinologist who should understand your issues a lot better than your GP manifestly does. I nevertheless cant quite believe that your GP suggested taking your meds in this way - what a irresponsible affair to practise.
Moggie x
Please have Rod's advise and start dissolving it in h2o (I didn't know that you could do that Rod - and neither did fibrosandie'southward GP, obviously) and if yous start keeping your meds well away from food too I'll be very suprised if yous dont start noticing a positive event inside a calendar week or and then.
Practiced luck and let the states know how you become on.

It has cropped upwards a couple or and then times hither. Despite being in the PILs, I suspect most of us read direct past it.
I would unremarkably have associated it with babies and very young children but someone else had a swallowing issue.
Rod
Can the same be washed with t3. Everyone l swallow sticks at the back of my pharynx and but about makes me sick. I used to dissolve them in my mouth but was told that it was bad for the heart.

Read the Patient Information Leaflet.
Mercury Pharma Liothyronine PIL says that they tin be crushed "for children and elderly patients".
PILs for many United kingdom of great britain and northern ireland products available here:

If the product is NOT Mercury Pharma'due south, refer to the appropriate production information.

Why dont you permit the tablet dissolve under your tongue if yous struggle swallowing them, information technology is ridiculous that a doc wont prescribe liquid levo to someone that struggles to consume tablets and disgusting that they dont fifty-fifty know you deceit accept them with food. i concur with moggie chances are your severe headaches are due to forgetting your levo.
I have a claret test for thyroid next week so will exist seeing him soon afterwards the results so will dealt with it so and allow you know what happens
give thanks you lot for your comments
sandie xx
Don't accept any meds on the day you're having claret taken until Later the depict every bit it will skew the results.
Your GP sounds similar a total plank putting toll before your wellbeing and giving such poor advice re taking T4
missing your levo will make yous expressionless if you have had tt dont do information technology no excuses
I know how you feel about not taking your meds. Every bit for my levo, I practice pretty well, because its one time a 24-hour interval, I dear that I'm not supposed to eat with it, considering I rarely eat, peculiarly past myself.
Anyways, a brusk time ago, I was in I guess deep low. No energy to clean my place at all and no help from kids. And so Blast!!! Just say issues with my kids came up and I was so upset and mad with everything, I wasn't taking my medicine regularly.
I have depression, anxiety, bi polar with borderline personality disorder. I accept been off all those meds for about 3 years I'yard guessing, due to non being able to afford them. I'm tired of beingness told what I need to practice, when, I'1000 doing the best that I can and with what I've got.
Anyways, I'thousand seeing an endocrinologist who specializes in thyroid, diabetes and one other thing I tin can't call up of.
I wasn't told anything about the alternating ways of taking my levo, just it should exist taken as shut to the same time as possible every day and I was told goose egg to eat or drink other than water for at least an 60 minutes after words.
I was looking up to run into if musculus weakness or whatever might be the crusade of me not taking my meds regularly for a calendar week or so myself.
Besides, I was told by my endocrinologist, if I miss a dose, to accept it as presently as I can, that its improve than nothing. I judge it stays in your system for long periods of fourth dimension? I agree with others, see an endocrinologist and I too, no longer have a thyroid. I had to have mine fully removed.
Due to disease I forgot to take my thyroxine for 4/v days , at present I feel quite weak and unsteady ,tin can I take an actress pill in the morning or ane at dark ?
I have been taking Levothyroxin (synthroid at one time) incorrectly for years. My first 30 yrs been taking since 20'southward, no one said anything about diet restrictions, taking with other meds, or at different times. I have never lost whatever weight, and recently stsrted gaining, and so i did some contempo research.
I was taking my thyr. Med with coffee and brkfst in the morn along with my calcium D3, vit c., omega's(vitamins with food, right?) what a mess, so I tried taking at bedtime, couldn't sleep.
Now getting upward at 5-6 a.m. taking thyroid go back to bed, sleep it off, then ge pt up, brkfst, vitamins no calcium with vit c either...!
Dies anyone take an easier way? On top of it nosotros have a rut moving ridge correct now, and I ran out of levothyroxine 3 days agone and my migraine stsrted agsin. I did NOT connect the dots until this website verified all of my past suspicions. Give thanks you.
Likewise have trouble with arthritis in my fingers, sorry
